It's now Christmas Day here in the good ol' state of Texas!

I tried to get the copyright info on this picture and couldn't find it :(

"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. "

"For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
Luke 2:11,30-32

Merry CHRISTmas everyone!!!

Random Useless Fact:

Monaco, a small country on the east coast of France, just a few miles from Italy, has the most vehicles per capita (SUVs, vans, sedans, commercial vehicles, and other 4 wheeled road vehicles) of any country in the world, at 863 for every 1,000 people.

I narrowly escaped death-by-awful-music at Savers thrift store this afternoon. The "We Three Kings" cabana style just about did me in. The other customers were commenting to each other on the awfulness saying they should just stop the music, so I know I'm not just being picky little me.

I did, however, make it out alive and with a few pieces of clothing -- the sizes of which you are not allowed to know ;)

This picture was taken after washing and before drying, thus the saggy wrinkles.

Both of the shirts need some sort of belt with them unless I want to look like a human tent. I looked at the belts at Savers, but none of them worked. So, I now have plans for making a belt, a project which may appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine :)

Issue 2 is ready! Just a few minutes late for my deadline of the 10th (I actually wanted to get it uploaded last night so that it would be on the site for the whole day of the deadline -- oh well!).

You can view it below or at ISSUU.com/ToDabble where you can also print it and download the PDF version with a free account!

I hope everyone enjoys it! Merry Christmas!!!

I'm reposting this from the 6th, I had to work out some kinks...

I'm considering using ISSUU as a way to distribute the magazine. Here's what it would look like. Click on the image. The side bar is a list of suggested magazines from ISSUU, not from me. I would start making the text larger than in Issue 1 so it would be easier to read on iPads and other small screens. Any comments on the ISSUU idea?

I'm revamping Issue 1 right now. There were a few misspellings in the first upload -- including the redundant "Page Reserved for Add(s)" with two d's...yeah, that's gunna make people want to advertise in my magazine. Well, if that wasn't enough, I also misspelled chicken in the table of contents -- a friend of mine was disappointed to find that I had not combined chicken and ground chuck to make Easy Fried "Chucken", but that it was a spelling error. And, I also spelled "putty" as "puddy" in the article about ceilings.

Well, anyhow, no more typing the text onto pages in photoshop, 'cause thar ain't noe spel chek!

What I Bought with my Birthday Money

The last few years, I've just put the money I get from birthday checks into a savings account, or something else responsible and boring. This year I decided to splurge a little with the birthday money my Grandaddy gave me.

Yes, what you see is a hunting knife with a "water-proof" storage handle and a jewelry set consisting of a necklace and earrings. What can I say? I have a variety of interests. Neither of these are of high quality construction. The necklace is missing a bead and a dangly circle. The mini survival kit that came in the handle of the knife (which doesn't keep out water) has a compass that doesn't point north, matches that will probably snap in two sooner than catch fire, and a fishing hook that looks like it was made to catch sardines (I didn't expect much from a $9 knife).

Overall, I'm still happy with my purchases. I've disguised the random bare area the necklace had, and the knife (which will probably make its way into the magazine before long) is still a functional saw and 8" blade with a storage handle. Thank you, Grandaddy!

I'm sitting here at my computer, contemplating eating lunch, trying to wrap up Issue 2 so it will be ready to post for sale on my website (www.ToDabble.com) by the beginning of December.

I'm finished with the "Home" section & the "Craft" section. The "Cooking", "Family", "Bible", & "Creatures" sections are almost completely done. The "Foreign Lands" (geography) section is coming along nicely. I get to tied up in this section when I'm researching. Far away places and people is something that has always captivated my interest.

The other sections look like they're going to be ready in time, as well, I just need to get my camera out and get some people to pose for the article photos.

Here's a sneak peak at the next issue:

Got my business cards in the mail today!

Ok, maybe they're no that spectacular, but they serve their purpose! They are regular business cards printed on both sides on matte paper. I think I'll wait for the glossy to go on special before I order any more -- that should make the black look better (it looks a little ashy when the light shines on it with this paper).

Thursday, I was finally able to upload the high quality version of Issue 1! Now everyone can go to www.ToDabble.com and download the first issue for free -- so go check it out! It's a quarterly magazine, so the second issue will come out the first part of December 2011.
